Travis Bradford- Founder and Industry Advisor
Travis Bradford is the Director of the Energy and Environment Concentration at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. He is also a full-time Associate Professor of Practice at Columbia University, teaching energy and natural resource markets and innovation at SIPA, CBS, and the Earth Institute.
Travis is also the founder and president of the Prometheus Institute for Sustainable Development, a nonprofit organization focused on harnessing the power of the business sector to develop cost-effective and sustainable solutions in technologies, including energy, water, food, and recycling. Through the Institute, he helped launch many organizations, including Greentech Media and the Carbon War Room.
Previously, Travis has been a professor at the University of Chicago and Duke University MBA programs, and has lectured on finance, entrepreneurship, and alternative energy economics at many leading universities in the U.S. His published works include “Solar Revolution: The Economic Transformation of the Global Energy Industry”, in addition to dozens of global market research reports on all aspects of the energy industry.
Travis earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from Georgia State University in 1992 and an MBA in 1996 from the NYU Stern School of Business. In 2006, he received an MPA degree from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He has previously worked at the Federal Reserve, as a partner at various public and private equity investment firms, and as a board member of numerous publicly traded, private, and non-profit firms in the US and abroad.
Kseniya Shelkovskaya- Founder, Facilitator
A native of Minsk, Belarus, Kseniya Shelkovskaya holds a B.A. in Economics from Barnard College, Columbia University. Following graduation, she spent a year in Germany on a prestigious Congress-Bundestag Fellowship. After returning to the United States and prior to her graduate studies, Kseniya worked in marketing and philanthropy, simultaneously fortifying her theoretical knowledge with post-graduate coursework at New York University and University of Bremen.
Kseniya is a Sustainability Management student at the Earth Institute of Columbia University, and her particular interests are urban infrastructure, mobility, and renewable energy. In addition to her work on the Energy Exponents, she is also the President of Sustainability Management Student Association. Kseniya speaks Russian, Belarusian, German, and English fluently.
Brandon Tarbert- Founder, Distributed Generation Team
Brandon has been working with clean and renewable energy technologies since he was an undergrad on Penn State’s Challenge X and EcoCAR teams, both of which are advanced vehicle design competitions sponsored by major US automotive manufacturers and the U.S. Department of Energy, as well as participated on Penn State’s Solar Decathlon team.
Since college, Brandon has worked with Sentech, Inc supporting the Vehicle Technologies Program at the U.S. Department of Energy, served in the U.S. Peace Corps for over two years in Benin, which is located in Western Africa, and then as a media strategist and content manager for Reluminati.
Currently, Brandon is an MPA candidate at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs studying Energy Policy and Finance focusing on clean energy project development and finance. He also works as a research intern at The Carbon War Room.
Celine Rottier- Founder, Oil and Gas Team
Celine is a graduate student in International Energy Management and Policy at Columbia University in New York with 8 years of professional experience in the energy industry. She is currently working with Poten & Partners in New York on natural gas markets, after she joined the Independent Diplomat’s climate team in 2013. Celine was previously an offshore engineer at the Repsol Technology Centre in Madrid, Spain and has worked in Brazil, the Netherlands and Singapore. She has led strategic investment decisions in Floating LNG, Offshore Wind Energy, Wave & Tidal Energy, Arctic and Deepwater developments. She graduated cum laude with a Master’s in Offshore Engineering from the IDEA league school Delft University of Technology in 2007, which she complemented with Business Administration courses at the RWTH Aachen in Germany. She is 2012 Energy Collective Future Energy Fellow, Chair of the World Petroleum Council Youth Committee, Youth Board of the Spanish Association for Energy Economics and Alumni Director of Columbia University’s SEA Energy Association. Celine speaks eight languages, including Dutch, French, English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Russian.
Daniel Clifton- Writer, Oil and Gas Team
Daniel is a current student in the Masters of Public Administration, concentrating in Energy and Environment. His undergraduate studies were in economics, where he completed a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours. On graduation Daniel worked for the Victorian government in Australia on sustainability policy. Following this he worked in management consulting in Australia, the United Kingdom and South America serving energy and public sector clients, and then joined the Global Green Growth Institute in Indonesia to work with the National Government on energy and economic topics.
Middoni Ramos- Writer, Distributed Generation Team (Link to channel page)
Middoni is a graduate student in Sustainability Management at Columbia University with over 5 years of experience in product development, process improvement, manufacturing operations, as well as management consulting. Prior to his studies, Middoni worked as Product and Process Engineer for Owens Corning. In this capacity, he was directly involved with the development of innovative, energy efficient building material products and the implementation of sustainable manufacturing processes across North America and Asia. In his previous role as a Complex Leader, Middoni led the operations of two production lines and 300+ employees, and managed over $10M in capital projects. He also worked as an Advisor for Conjunct Consulting, a Singaporean consulting firm. His interests are in energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy markets, and sustainable manufacturing.
A native of Mexico, Middoni has lived and worked in the United States, Canada, and Singapore and is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. He holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University.
Eric Shrago- Writer, Distributed Generation Team
Eric Shrago is a graduate student at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs studying International Energy Management and Policy. Eric brings over 10 years experience in the financial services sector having worked at a leading investment bank, asset manager, as well as with a consulting firm and start-ups. He became interested in the energy sector while living and working in India. His interests are in renewable energy, energy politics, and energy efficiency. Eric is fluent in English and Spanish.
